Statement by Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Terrorist Bombings in Pakistan

- The Government of Japan strongly condemns the terrorist bombing, presumably
targeting former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, in Karachi, Pakistan,
in the early morning of October 19 (Fri). The Government of Japan expresses
its grief at the loss of life and its deepest sympathies to those who were
injured.
- The Government of Japan will continue to contribute to the fight against
terrorism in cooperation with the international community.
- The Government of Japan expects that the Government of Pakistan will continue to engage in building a stable and democratic state; it continues to closely follow the situation as it develops in Pakistan.
