Dispatching an Expert Team for Needs Assessment Team to the Leyte Island of the Philippines which Suffers the Massive Landslide Disaster

- On February 28, the Government of Japan decided to dispatch an expert team for needs assessment to the southern part of Leyte Island. The team will visit the Leyte Island in February 1 to 3, and study the necessary assistance for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of serious disaster caused by the massive landslide on February 17.
- The team composed of two officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and two staffs of JICA, will examine feasibility of further assistance by the Government of Japan. Two officers of the Embassy of Japan in Manila will also participate in the team.
