Assistance for Supporting Children and Adolescents Affected by HIV/AIDS in Zimbabwe

- On January 5 (Mon), the Government of Japan and the United Nations (UN) decided to extend assistance of a total of 1,030,000.00 US dollars through the Trust Fund for Human Security to the project "Promotion of HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care and Support for Children and Adolescents Affected by HIV/AIDS in Zimbabwe" to be implemented by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
- The purpose of this project is to promote HIV/AIDS prevention by implementing activities in nine districts of the Republic of Zimbabwe, including holding life skills camps for children and orphans affected by HIV/AIDS, providing support for the training of provincial trainers in those camps, conducting training courses in community based counseling, promoting sensitization of young people towards HIV/AIDS through workshops and promoting protection and development of children in early childhood through improving water and sanitation facilities.
- This project is expected to enhance the capacity of individuals in the communities of Zimbabwe for HIV/AIDS prevention.
