Assistance for Malaria Control in Nigeria by the Trust Fund for Human Security

- On January 27 (Monday), the Government of Japan and the United Nations (UN) decided to extend a total of 997,052.15-US dollar assistance through the Trust Fund for Human Security to the project "Malaria Control with an Emphasis on Insecticide Treated Bednets (ITNs) and Household Management of Malaria by Mothers" to be implemented in Nigeria by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
- The purpose of this project is to contribute to increased utilization of ITNs and improved household management of malaria by the target population in Enugu, Ogun, Bauchi and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja. Activities include support for ITN production, creation of demand for ITN use, and awareness raising for home management of malaria.
- This project will target 625,000 individuals for the use of ITNs and is expected to reduce children and maternal mortality, reduce the household expenditure spent on health and improve the potential for development.
