Present Situation in Indonesia
(Withdrawal of Self-Defence Force Aircrafts and Patrol Boats of Maritime Safety Agency)

May 26, 1998

1. On May 26, taking account of the present situation in the Republic of Indonesia, the Minister for Foreign Affairs requested the Director General of the Defense Agency to withdraw the SDF aircrafts which are standing by at Paya Lebar air base in Singapore, ready to transfer Japanese nationals and others, based on Provision 8 of the Self-Defense Forces Act Article 100.
   
   
2. On May 26, taking account of the present situation in the Republic of Indonesia, the Minister for Foreign Affairs requested the Minister of Transport of withdraw the patrol boats of the Maritime Safety Agency, "Mizuho" and " Echigo", which are standing by in the Port of Singapore.
