On February 21, commencing at 17:45 p.m. (local time; 00:45 a.m. on February 22 JST) for approximately 10 minutes, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who is visiting Johannesburg, South Africa, to attend the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, held a meeting with Honourable Mr. Ronald LAMOLA, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa. The overview is as follows.

Minister Lamola expressed his gratitude for the attendance of Minister Iwaya at the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and for Japan’s hospitality at the TICAD Ministerial Meeting last year. In response, Minister Iwaya expressed his respect for the leadership of Minister Lamola under the G20 Presidency and stated that Japan would like to cooperate closely with South Africa towards the success of TICAD 9 in August and the G20 Summit in November this year.
