On May 29, commencing at 9:30a.m., for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, held a summit meeting with Hon. Mr. Kassim Majaliwa MAJALIWA, Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, who is visiting Japan to participate in the National Day Event of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

  1. At the outset, Prime Minister Ishiba mentioned the success of Tanzania-related events at the Osaka-Kansai Expo and expressed his desire to further develop bilateral cooperation with Tanzania, which is the gateway for Japanese companies to enter Eastern Africa market. Prime Minister Ishiba also requested Tanzania's cooperation toward the success of TICAD 9 to be held in August this year.
  2. In response, Prime Minister Majaliwa touched upon the good bilateral relationship between the two countries and expressed his appreciation for Japan's economic cooperation, such as the agricultural sector. Prime Minister Majaliwa also expressed his hope for further expansion of investment.
  3. The two leaders confirmed that they would work closely together in the international arena, such as UN Security Council reform.
