Special Advisor to the Prime Minister OUE’s Visit to Seychelles, Ethiopia and Kenya

From April 5 to 11, Mr. OUE Sadamasa, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, visited Seychelles, Ethiopia and Kenya.

- In Seychelles, Special Advisor OUE paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Patrick HERMINIE, President of the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Mr. Sebastien PILLAY, Vice-President of the Republic of Seychelles, and H.E. Mr. Barry FAURE, Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, and exchanged views on regional affairs and Special Advisor OUE stated the importance of promoting FOIP, and concurred in further promoting cooperation in areas such as maritime security. He also held talks with Major General Michael ROSETTE, Chief of Defence of Seychelles Defence Forces, and exchanged views on security cooperation and concurred in further promoting security cooperation. He also visited the construction site of the Marine Police Headquarters, which is being built with the cooperation of the Japanese government, the Regional Operational Coordination Centre, and the naval base, and exchanged views with Japanese business representatives and other Japanese residents working in Seychelles.

- In Ethiopia, Special Advisor OUE paid courtesy calls on Engineer AISHA Mohammed Mussa, Minister of Defence of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and Dr. Assefa Abiyu, Deputy Director General of the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS), where they exchanged views on regional affairs and Special Advisor OUE stated the importance of promoting FOIP. He also met with African Union officials, including Mr. Eustace Chiwombe, Head Policy, Evaluation and Training (PET) Unit in the AUC Peace Support Operations Division, and exchanged views on security cooperation. In addition, he visited the Ethiopian PKO Center and the Ethiopian National Defense Force Museum, and exchanged views with relevant officials.

- In Kenya, Special Advisor OUE paid a courtesy call on Hon. Dr. Musalia MUDAVADI EGH, Prime Cabinet Secretary & Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, and Amb. Monica Juma, DPhil, CBS, National Security Advisor, where they exchanged views on regional affairs. He also held talks with Gen Charles Kahariri EGH CBS ‘nwc'(USA) ‘psc'(K), Chief of the Defence Forces, exchanging a wide range of views on security cooperation, including promotion of FOIP. In addition, he visited the International Peace Support Training Centre and the Humanitarian Peace Support School, where the Japanese government has provided support for PKO training courses and dispatched instructors, along with Mombasa Port, where the Japanese government has supported the development of container terminals and special economic zones, and the Mtongwe Naval Base. Furthermore, he exchanged views with Japanese nationals, including those involved in Japanese companies operating in Kenya.
