Japan-Namibia Relations

On February 5, following the passing of H. E. Dr. Hage G. Geingob on February 4, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, issued a letter of condolence to H. E. Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, President of the Republic of Namibia.

In the letter, Prime Minister KISHIDA stated that on behalf of the Government and the people of Japan, he would like to express his sincere condolences to the Government and the people of the Republic of Namibia.

Prime Minister Kishida also commemorated the former President’s tremendous contribution to the development of the partnership between Japan and the Republic of Namibia, including promotion of investment by Japanese companies, touching upon the former President’s visit to Japan and his attendance in the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) held in August 2019 in Yokohama.

On the same day, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, issued a letter of condolence to H. E. Ms. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Vice President of the Republic of Namibia(former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation).

In the letter, Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA expressed her respect for the former President 's great contribution to the development of Republic of Namibia by promoting industrialization and developing economy. Minister KAMIKAWA also expressed her sincere condolences to his deceased's family.
