Foreign Minister MOTEGI’s visit to the Josina Machel Hospital

On May 1, commencing at 10:00 a.m. local time (6:00 p.m. on same day, Japan time) for 50 minutes,Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who is visiting Angola, visited Josina Machel Hospital, the largest general hospital in the country, which Japan supported in terms of medical equipment maintenance, training of healthcare professionals and building renovation.
- Minister MOTEGI visited the hospital facilities, guided by Ms. Sílvia Paula Valentim Lutucuta, Minister of Health of Angola and other officials from the Ministry of Health of Angola, and confirmed how the medical equipment and facilities supported by Japan are being utilized.
- Minister Lutucuta, expressed gratitude for Japan's past support and explained that the Josina Machel Hospital, the largest public hospital developed with Japan's assistance, has greatly contributed to improving the country's medical system. Minister Lutucuta also explained that projects such as the dissemination of the Maternal and Child Health Handbook, which Japan is promoting through public-private partnership, was highly praised as an international good practice for its significant contribution to the drastic reduction of maternal, infant, and child mortality rates.
