On August 21, Prime Minister ISHIBA Shigeru attended the Public-Private Business Dialogue of the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9).

  1. In his opening remarks, Prime Minister ISHIBA mentioned that more than 300 cooperation documents were unveiled at this morning's commemorative ceremony — three times the number seen at the previous TICAD 8. He stated that, as a reliable partner of Africa, Japan will build on this momentum.
  2. The Public-Private Business Dialogue featured panel discussions on three themes: "Economic diversification through strengthening sustainable industrial ecosystem," "Promotion of intra-regional African integration and connectivity within and beyond Africa," and "Strengthening finance towards private sector-led growth." The discussions involved government and private sector representatives from both Japan and Africa. Participants, including representatives from Japanese and African companies, listened from the audience, and the event was also broadcast online.
