  1. On May 27, the Africa Day Celebration dinner hosted by the African Diplomatic Corps in Tokyo (ADC) was held in Tokyo. Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, sent a congratulatory message. Speaker of the House of Representatives Mr. NUKAGA and Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. IWAYA Takeshi attended the reception.
  2. At the reception, Mr. Iwaya delivered a guest speech and had a talk with ambassadors of the ADC, confirming that Japan and Africa will closely cooperate toward the success of TICAD 9 to be held in August this year.

May 25 is designated as Africa Day to commemorate the establishment of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), the predecessor of the African Union (AU) on May 25, 1963.

The African Diplomatic Corps in Tokyo (ADC) is a diplomatic group consisting of ambassadors from 39 African countries that have established embassies in Tokyo. H.E. Dr. Pierre NDZENGUE, Ambassador of the Republic of Cameroon to Japan, serves as the Dean of the ADC (appointed on January 31, 2025).
