Partners’ Program at the Seventh Tokyo International Conference of African Development (TICAD7)

1. On August 29, Mrs. Akie Abe, spouse of the Prime Minister of Japan, hosted the TICAD7 Partners’ Program at Sankeien Garden in Yokohama. The program was attended by the spouses of the Heads of Delegations from African countries; Angola, Burkina Faso, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritius, Namibia, Niger and Sierra Leone and Mrs. Hayashi, Mayor of Yokohama.
2. At the luncheon hosted by Mrs. Abe, Japanese-style dishes (Menu (PDF)) using ingredients commonly used in Africa were served. After that, the spouses of African leaders deepened their understanding of Japanese traditional culture through the introductory sessions on the Japanese tea ceremony and Kimono.
