TICAD

1. On August 28, Mrs. Akie Abe, spouse of the Prime Minister of Japan, attended a side event of the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) entitled “Zero Gender-Based Violence for African Future: Together, We Can”, co-organized by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD). In the opening speech, she stated that in order to achieve the world where women can shine, it is fundamental to create a society in which all the people including women and children can be free from the fear of violence, become economically independent and live with peace of mind.

2. On the same day, Mrs. Abe attended TICAD7 Side Event, “TICAD7 LIVE HEART FOR AFRICA”. She enjoyed the charity concert by MISIA, TICAD7 Honorary Ambassador, with the spouses of the Heads of Delegations from African countries as well as Mrs. Kono, spouse of the Foreign Minister of Japan, in a relaxing atmosphere.
