On May 20, Mr. SHIMADA Tomoaki, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the 54th National Unity Day reception of the Republic of Cameroon, hosted by the Embassy of Cameroon in Japan, where he delivered remarks.

  1. In his remarks, Parliamentary Vice-Minister SHIMADA extended congratulation on Cameroon’s National Unity Day, and welcomed the further deepening of Japan-Cameroon relations through active high-level exchanges since TICAD 9, which was held in Yokohama last August.
  2. In addition, Parliamentary Vice-Minister SHIMADA introduced the Updated Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP), as well as the policy direction of Japan’s diplomacy toward Africa, which was recently outlined by Foreign Minister Motegi during his visit to Africa, and expressed his expectations for the further development of bilateral relations between Japan and Cameroon.
