On July 18, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from Rt Hon Winston Peters, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand, who is visiting Japan to participate in the 10th Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM10), and they exchanged views for a short time. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Prime Minister Kishida welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Peters’ participation in PALM 10. They exchanged the views on regional affairs, including Pacific Island countries.
  2. They concurred to strengthen the Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Japan and New Zealand based upon the outcomes of the summit meeting held during Prime Minister Luxon’s visit to Japan last month.
