Meeting between Mrs. Abe Akie, the spouse of the Prime Minister of Japan and First Lady Patricia Edwin of the Federated States of Micronesia

On November 14th, Mrs Abe Akie, the spouse of the Prime Minister of Japan had a meeting with First Lady Patricia Edwin of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), who was visiting Japan, together with two Micronesian students, currently studying in Japan.
- The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere. Mrs. Abe welcomed First Lady Patricia’s visit to Japan following her recent visit to Japan at the Ceremony of the Enthronement of His Majesty the Emperor. Mrs. Abe mentioned that it was pleasant that Japan and Micronesia had close historical and cultural connections, and First Lady Patricia Edwin thanked for Mrs. Abe’s warm welcome.
- First Lady Patricia Edwin pointed out some issues the FSM faced such as the improvement of health care system, human trafficking, women’s participation to the society, and the both agreed on the importance of promoting actions to tackle the problems by introducing the voices of citizens focusing on young people. In addition, they exchanged opinions with the two students on topics such as student’s life in Japan, attraction of Japan, ties between Japan and the FSM.
