Meeting between Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary SATO and a delegation led by Senator the Hon. Sue LINES, President of the Australian Senate

On June 10, commencing at 2:40 p.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. SATO Kei, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, met a delegation led by Senator the Hon. Sue LINES, President of the Australian Senate, who is visiting Japan upon the invitation from the President of the House of Councillors of Japan.
- At the outset, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary SATO welcomed the visit to Japan by the delegation in the milestone year marking the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Japan and Australia and stated that people-to-people exchanges are the foundation of the Japan-Australia relationship, which is stronger than ever. He also expressed his hope that such exchanges between the two countries would be strengthened in the years ahead.
- Both sides confirmed that, amid an increasingly severe strategic environment surrounding the two countries, it is important to further advance bilateral collaboration across a wide range of areas.
