On February 18, from 2:00 p.m. for approximately 45 minutes, Mr. OUE Sadamasa, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, received a courtesy call by Mr. Andrew Shearer, Ambassador-Designate of Australia to Japan. The overview is as follows:

  1. At the outset, Special Adviser OUE welcomed Mr. Shearer on his appointment as Ambassador-Designate of Australia to Japan. The two sides exchanged views on cooperation in the field of security, defense and economic security.
  2. Both sides also exchanged views on regional situations and other matters, in addition to further deepening bilateral relations by taking advantage of this year's 50th anniversary of the signing of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Co-operation between Japan and Australia.
