Japan-Australia Summit Dinner hosted by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese

On May 4, commencing at 7:00 p.m. local time (6:00 p.m. on May 4 Japan Time) for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, Ms. TAKAICHI Sanae, Prime Minister of Japan, and the Hon. Anthony Albanese, MP, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia held a Japan-Australia Summit Dinner.
- The dinner was held in a relaxed atmosphere with conversations covering a wide range of topics on politics, economy and culture of both countries. Both leaders reaffirmed the importance of Japan-Australian cooperation and deepened their personal relationship.
- Prior to the dinner, Prime Minister TAKAICHI presented Prime Minister Albanese with a Shizuoka-grown Crown Melon, which Japan exports to Australia, and expressed Japan’s expectation to promote further exports of Japanese agricultural, forestry, and fishery products and food to Australia.

In January this year, Australia lifted its restrictions on imports of Japanese melons. Shizuoka Crown Melons are cultivated using the “One Tree, One Fruit” method, in which only a single fruit matures on each plant.
