On May 4, commencing at 4:15 p.m. local time (3:15 p.m. on May 4, Japan time), Ms. TAKAICHI Sanae, Prime Minister of Japan, who is visiting Canberra, the Commonwealth of Australia, as a Guest of Government, visited the Canberra Nara Peace Park.

  1. Prime Minister TAKAICHI visited the Canberra Nara Peace Park with the Hon. Anthony Albanese, MP, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia and Mr. Andrew Barr, Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory and planted a Japanese black pine to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, and in the hope that the friendship between Japan and Australia will continue to deepen.
  2. In addition, the participants offered flowers and silent prayers at the memorial for the late Mr. ABE Shinzo, former Prime Minister of Japan, which is located in the park.
