On January 23, commencing at 6:47pm for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, held a telephone talk with The Hon. Malcolm Turnbull, MP, Prime Minister of Australia upon the request of the Australian side. In the talk, the two leaders exchanged views on the importance of free trade, including the TPP, following the recent visit by Prime Minister Abe to Australia. Additionally, Prime Minister Turnbull expressed sympathy and condolences to Prime Minister Abe for the Japanese victim in the car rampage incident in Melbourne that caused deaths and injuries, and Prime Minister Abe requested assistance for the Japanese victim and the victim’s family.
