Prime Minister Abe holds Telephone Talks with the Former Prime Minister of Australia

On September 18, commencing at 10:30 a.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister, held a telephone talk with the Hon Tony Abbott, MP, former Prime Minister of Australia. The overview is as follows.
1. At the beginning, Prime Minister Abe said that he is proud to have elevated the relationship between Japan and Australia to a “special relationship” with former Prime Minister Abbott.
2. In response, former Prime Minister Abbott stated that it is his great pleasure to have been able to work with Prime Minister Abe on the peace and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region, and that he is determined to make efforts to strengthen the Japan-Australia relationship.
3. Prime Minister Abe once again expressed gratitude for the consistent support former Prime Minister Abbott showed for Japan’s initiatives.
