Japan-U.S.-ROK Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

On August 2, commencing at 4:30 p.m. (Bangkok time) for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. KONO Taro, Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a Japan-U.S.-Republic of Korea (ROK) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with the Honorable Mike POMPEO, Secretary of State of the United States, and H.E. Dr. KANG Kyung-wha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the ROK. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- Minister Kono emphasized the importance of Japan-U.S.-ROK cooperation in addressing the issues of North Korea.
- Furthermore, the three ministers exchanged views on the situation regarding North Korea, including recent developments. The three ministers aligned their future policies, and confirmed that Japan, the United States and the ROK will continue to coordinate closely.
- In addition, the three ministers exchanged views on Japan-ROK relations and other international affairs.
