Japan-U.S.-ROK Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

On February 15, commencing at 8:00 AM (local time, 4:00 PM February 15 Japan time) for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who was visiting Germany (Munich) to attend the Munich Security Conference, held a Japan-U.S.-Republic of Korea (ROK) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with the Honorable Mike POMPEO, Secretary of State of the United States, and H.E. KANG Kyung-wha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the ROK. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- The three ministers exchanged views on the recent situation regarding North Korea, deepened discussions on the future policy, and agreed to continue to coordination among the three countries.
- The three ministers also exchanged views regarding the recent international and regional situations, such as coronavirus disease (COVID - 19), which is spreading in China and further expanding geographically, as well as the situation in the Middle East. Regarding coronavirus disease (COVID - 19), the three ministers shared the view on supporting China’s efforts toward preventing the spread of the infection and to provide assistance as the international community.
