On February 15, commencing at 8:00 AM (local time, 4:00 PM February 15 Japan time) for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who was visiting Germany (Munich) to attend the Munich Security Conference, held a Japan-U.S.-Republic of Korea (ROK) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with the Honorable Mike POMPEO, Secretary of State of the United States, and H.E. KANG Kyung-wha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the ROK. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. The three ministers exchanged views on the recent situation regarding North Korea, deepened discussions on the future policy, and agreed to continue to coordination among the three countries.
  2. The three ministers also exchanged views regarding the recent international and regional situations, such as coronavirus disease (COVID - 19), which is spreading in China and further expanding geographically, as well as the situation in the Middle East. Regarding coronavirus disease (COVID - 19), the three ministers shared the view on supporting China’s efforts toward preventing the spread of the infection and to provide assistance as the international community.
