On September 30, 2025 (local time), Mrs. ISHIBA Keiko, the spouse of the Prime Minister, who is visiting Busan, the Republic of Korea (ROK) with Prime Minister ISHIBA Shigeru, participated in the program for Korean Food Culture Experience hosted by ROK. The overview of the program is as follows.

Prior to the program, along with Prime Minister ISHIBA, Mrs. ISHIBA offered flowers to the grave of Mr. Lee Soo-hyun, who deceased in an accident while trying to save a Japanese man who had fallen onto the railway track at Shin-Okubo Station in 2001.

  1. Mrs. ISHIBA experienced the traditional Korean food culture by preparing Korean pancake, a dish often served to celebrate weddings and seasonal events, and the Korean local cuisine with pine nuts. Additionally, Mrs. ISHIBA exchanged views with the local culinary expert regarding the food culture in both Japan and ROK.
  2. During the program, Mrs. ISHIBA noted that there are many in common in Japan and ROK in terms of valuing the seasons and events in their food culture. Also Mrs. ISHIBA reaffirmed the cultural affinity of both countries through the experience of the Korean food culture.
