On June 25, commencing at 1:05 p.m. (local time. 8:05 p.m. on June 25, Japan time), for approximately 25 minutes, Mr. Iwaya Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Wi Sunglac, National Security Advisor of the Republic of Korea (ROK) during his visit to The Hague, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, on the occasion of the NATO Summit. The summary of the bilateral meeting is as follows.

  1. The two sides welcomed the steady progress of the Japan ROK relations through events related to the 60th anniversary of the normalization of the Japan ROK relations and high level communications
  2. The two sides reaffirmed the strategic importance of the Japan ROK relations and the coordination among Japan, the ROK, and the United States. They concurred that they would continue to communicate closely between the two governments for the stable development of the bilateral relations under the positive atmosphere of the Japan ROK relations.
  3. The two sides also exchanged views on regional situations. They reaffirmed that they would continue to work closely together between Japan and the ROK, as well as among Japan, the ROK, and the United States on issues regarding North Korea including the nuclear and missile issues as well as the abductions issue.
