Prime Minister Ishiba’s attendance at the Commemorative Reception of the 60th Anniversary of the Normalization of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and the Republic of Korea

On June 19, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan attended the Commemorative Reception of the 60th Anniversary of the Normalization of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) hosted by the Embassy of the ROK in Japan.
- Following the opening remarks by H.E. Mr. PARK Cheol-hee, Ambassador of the ROK to Japan, Prime Minister Ishiba delivered a speech. In his remarks, he stated that since the signing of the Treaty on Basic Relations between Japan and the ROK in 1965, which laid the foundation for the normalization of diplomatic relations, Japan and the ROK have accumulated a wide range of exchanges as the closest neighbors.
- Prime Minister Ishiba also mentioned that he had a Summit Meeting with H.E. Mr. LEE Jae Myung, President of the ROK, the day before the Reception during his visit to Canada, and emphasized that both countries concur on promoting close communication between the two governments for stable development of the Japan-ROK relations.
- Prime Minister Ishiba called for both countries to join hands and take a new step towards a better future under the current strategic environment, and expressed his hope for further leaps in Japan-ROK relations.
