On January 13, commencing at 2 p.m. for approximately 40 minutes, Mr. Iwaya Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Woo Won-shik, National Assembly Speaker of the Republic of Korea (ROK). The summary is as follows.

  1. Minister Iwaya stated that Japan and the ROK are important neighbors which should work as partners on challenges in the international community. Both sides concurred on the importance of continuing and developing the Japan-ROK relations in light of the current strategic environment.
  2. Both sides also appraised the longstanding and active legislative exchanges between Japan and the ROK, and expressed their expectations that such exchanges will continue this year.
