Japan-Republic of Korea Relations

On March 6, commencing at around 11:30 a.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a telephone talk with H.E. Mr. Yun Byung-se, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (ROK). The overview of the talk is as follows.

  1. Foreign Minister Kishida stated that North Korea's ballistic missile launches earlier in the morning are a clear provocation to the region and the international community and are totally unacceptable. He also mentioned that Japan would adopt a firm stance against North Korea, and strongly urge North Korea to refrain from any further provocation and comply with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and other international commitments.
  2. In addition, the two ministers shared the view that, in order to respond effectively to North Korea's nuclear and missile issues, including its provocations, Japan and the ROK, and Japan, the United States, and the ROK will continue to collaborate closely, including at the United Nations.
