On September 28, commencing at 10:10 a.m., for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from H.E. Dr. Han Duck-soo, Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, who was visiting Japan to attend the State Funeral of former Prime Minister Abe.

  1. Prime Minister Han expressed his profound condolences on the passing of the former Prime Minister Abe. In response, Prime Minister Kishida expressed his gratitude for sympathies from Prime Minister Han and his attendance to the State Funeral.
  2. Both sides concurred to accelerate communication through the diplomatic channels in order to restore sound Japan-ROK relations and further develop them. In addition, both sides shared expectations that the relaxation of border measures including visa exemption measures would lead to the revitalization of cross-border travels between Japan and the ROK.
  3. Furthermore, both sides concurred on the importance of advancing Japan-ROK and Japan-ROK-U.S. cooperation including further coordination to deal with North Korea.
