On December 25, commencing at 9:55 a.m. local time (10:55 a.m. Japan time), for approximately 40 minutes, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, during his visit to Beijing in the People’s Republic of China, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. The overview is as follows.

  1. Minister Iwaya stated that based on the confirmation by the two leaders of both Japan and China on a broad direction of comprehensively promoting a “Mutually Beneficial Relationship Based on Common Strategic Interests” and building “constructive and stable Japan-China relations,” he seeks to continue frequent and candid dialogue and to realize concrete outcomes. Premier Li welcomed Minister Iwaya’s visit to China and made remarks on the importance of the Japan-China relationship.
  2. Both sides concurred that they would expand cooperation in the area of people-to-people exchange and economic field, and on the importance of promoting mutual understanding between both countries and their people through the promotion of exchange and dialogue at various levels and by making efforts to improve public sentiment toward each other's country.
  3. Both sides concurred that both Japan and China would work together to fulfill their responsibilities as major powers which have responsibility in the region and the world.
