Foreign Minister Hayashi Pays a Courtesy Call on State Council Premier Li Qiang

From 16:00 pm on April 2 local time Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, during his visit to Beijing in the People’s Republic of China, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, for approximately 40 minutes. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- Minister Hayashi stated that although there are many concerns and challenges in Japan-China relations, he hoped for close communication to be carried out at all levels towards building a “constructive and stable relationship,” which is a shared recognition between the leaders of Japan and China. Premier Li welcomed Minister Hayashi’s visit to China and made remarks on the importance of Japan-China economic relations based on his own experience.
- In addition, Minister Hayashi stated that it is important that both governments support the economic and people-to-people exchanges, and pointed out that it is extremely important for the Chinese government to ensure an environment in which Japanese nationals and Japanese companies can conduct activities with a sense of security in China.
- Both sides concurred on the importance of continuing close communication at all levels, including at the high level.
