On May 30, commencing at 14:52 p.m. for 20 minutes, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung, Deputy Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Prime Minister Ishiba expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to him during his visit to Viet Nam at the end of April. In response, Deputy Prime Minister Dung stated that he was pleased to see Prime Minister Ishiba’s successful visit to Viet Nam and meet him again on this occasion.
  2. Both sides confirmed their intention to further enhance bilateral cooperation in areas such as economy and security under the “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”. They also reaffirmed to work closely together to maintain and strengthen the free and open international order based on the rule of law.
  3. Both sides also discussed Deputy Prime Minister Dung’s visits to Aichi, Mie, Hokkaido, and Tsukuba and reaffirmed the importance of further promoting regional exchanges between Japan and Viet Nam.
