Minister for Foreign Affairs Yoriko Kawaguchi sent a message to British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw concerning the bombings in Istanbul on Thursday, November 20, 2003, involving the British Consulate General and the HSBC Bank. In the message Foreign Minister Kawaguchi expressed her deepest condolences to the bereaved families and heartfelt sympathy to those who were injured. Foreign Minister Kawaguchi also resolutely condemned such despicable and inexcusable acts of terrorism, reaffirming that the Government of Japan continues to be actively engaged in the fight against terrorism in cooperation with the United Kingdom and the international community.
