Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's Visit to North Korea
September 2002
On 17 September, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi visited Pyongyang in North Korea and held talks with General Secretary Kim Jong Il. For over half a century since the end of the Second World War, diplomatic relations with North Korea have yet to be normalized, and it can be said that it is the historical responsibility of the Government to resolve the various issues between Japan and North Korea and to normalize diplomatic relations.
