Details of competition to create a logo and catchline for
"Mekong-Japan Exchange Year 2009"

June 2008

In order to promote "Mekong-Japan Exchange Year 2009", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan invites ideas from the public for a suitable logo and catchline.

We look forward to many entries!

Logo

  • Create a logo that describes the friendly relations between the Mekong countries and Japan. The logo also needs to be suitable for usage in advertisement/media.
  • Expressions such as "日メコン交流年2009" and/or " Mekong-Japan Exchange Year 2009" must be included in the logo.

Catchline

  • Create a catchline that refers to the friendly relations between the Mekong countries and Japan. The catchline also needs to be simple and suitable for usage in advertisement/media.

Eligibility

No restriction on nationality, age, sex, occupation.
(Anyone can apply)

Deadline for submitting entries

July 11, 2008

Selection of Winner

Entries will be carefully considered by officials from the Mekong region countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam) and Japan, and one winner and two runners-up will be selected.

Announcement of the winner

To be announced on this website in end of July.
The Secretariat will notify the winner and runner-up personally.

Logo requirements

  • Paper: Vertical white A4-size
  • Please submit two versions (color, black-and-white). No limit in color or gradation.
  • Image format: JPEG、GIF、Illustrator and Photoshop only are acceptable.
    * The secretariat may occasionally ask applicants to change the image format.
  • OS: Any version of Mac OS is not acceptable.
  • There is no limit on the number of entries. However, entrants must submit one entry form (WORD, PDF) per entry.
  • Entries will not be returned.

Catchline requirements

  • Language: English or Japanese
    * after selection, the winning entries may be translated into the languages of the Mekong countries and Japanese.
  • Submit by post or e-mail.
  • There is no limit on the number of entries. However, entrants must submit one entry form (WORD, PDF) per entry.
  • Entries will not be returned.

  • Provide the following information.
    • (1) Name, Sex, Age, Nationality, Occupation, E-mail address, Telephone number, Facsimile, Postal address.
      * Personal information such as the names and occupations of the winner and runners-up will be available to the public.
    • (2) Explanation of the meaning of the logo design and catchline in about 40 words.
      * The explanations of the winner and runners-up will be available to the public.
  • The original data of the logo must be attached to the e-mail.
    * The data size should be under 500 kilobytes if sent by e-mail. If it is greater than 500 kilobytes, please record on floppy disk, CD-ROM or DVD-ROM and send by postal mail.

    * Only the above mentioned method of entry will be accepted.

Copyright

(1) The Work must be unpublished and made by yourself exclusively for this contest of Mekong-Japan Exchange Year 2009.

(2) Work which contravenes public order and other laws and regulations including defamation and copyright infringement of third parties will be excluded from the contest.

(3) All rights of adopted work will be the property of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Use of adopted work, official logo and catchline for the exchange year will be decided by the secretariat (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan) and the governments of the Mekong region countries. Processing the work will be restricted to size adjustment and black-white conversion.
