Japan donated books for the library in Madagascar. Every year Japanese Embassy holds a film festival and other cultural festivals.

Recent Trends

Following the 2002 political crisis, the President RAVALOMANANA began many reform projects including an economic recovery plan. The government of Madagascar has launched a new initiative called "Madagascar Action Plan 2012 (MAP)" which focuses on a new planning period of five years action (2007-2011) to achieve breakthrough goals in 2012. The President RAVALDMANANA was reelected in Dec. 2006. Japan has good relations with Madagascar, mainly in economic cooperation and exchange programs.
