Courtesy Call on Minister IWAYA by the Parliamentary Association on Economic Diplomacy

On Friday, June 20, commencing at 2:35 p.m., Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from the Parliamentary Association on Economic Diplomacy (Chairperson Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Ms. SUZUKI Takako, and Mr. HOSAKA Yasushi), for approximately 15 minutes. The overview is as follows.
- The Parliamentary Association on Economic Diplomacy handed Minister Iwaya a “Proposal for Pioneering New Frontiers in Economic Diplomacy” and requested that Japan further promote initiatives to enhance economic power, which forms the foundation of national power, by developing economic diplomacy that “connects the public and private sectors.”
- In response, Minister Iwaya expressed his intention to pioneer frontiers in economic diplomacy while further enhancing and strengthening the activities of officials in charge of cross-border economic affairs. Minister Iwaya also stated that supporting Japanese companies should not be conducted in a routine manner, but rather that the Government needs to respond firmly to corporate demands, and that the Government would undertake such initiatives strategically and on a priority basis.
