Statement by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, on the Inauguration of the New Government in Tunisia

  1. Japan welcomes the inauguration of a new government in Tunisia on March 13 led by Mr. Ali Larayedh, Prime Minister.

  2. Japan hopes that the new Government will demonstrate leadership in order to resolutely advance the democratic transition process in Tunisia, including the establishment of a new constitution.

  3. The democratization of Tunisia is connected to the stability of the entire Middle East and North Africa region. Japan will continue to support democratization efforts in Tunisia.
