On October 5, commencing at shortly after 9 a.m. for approximately 25 minutes, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, France, who is visiting Japan to attend the STS Forum. The overview is as follows.

1. At the beginning, Prime Minister Abe expressed his gratitude for Minister Fabius’ attendance at the STS Forum, while extending his condolences over the murder of a French citizen in Algeria and explaining that the Government of Japan will continue to cooperate with the international community to fight terrorism. In response, Minister Fabius thanked Prime Minister Abe for his sympathy. Prime Minister Abe and Minister Fabius also confirmed that bilateral relations are moving forward in the security, economic and other fields under the “Exceptional partner relationship.”

2. Prime Minister Abe and Minister Fabius shared the view that they will cooperate to make the COP21 that will be held in France next year a success.
