Expert Committee for the Sixth Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM 6)

- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host the kick-off meeting of the Expert Committee for PALM 6 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, May 31. Ms. Makiko Kikuta, Parliamentary Vice-Minister will participate in the Committee at the beginning.
- As the preparation for PALM 6, which will be held in Nago, Okinawa, on May 25 and 26 in 2012, the Committee will 1) review the implementation and achievements of previous PALMs, 2) explore how the future modality of PALM should be, and 3) discuss strategies for further enhancing the relationship between Japan and Pacific Islands. The Committee consists of six core intellectual members.
- The Committee will have a total of five meetings and will submit policy proposals to Mr. Takeaki Matsumoto, Minister for Foreign Affairs, by the end of this year.
