Regional Promotion Seminar (Kansai Bloc)

- On January 20 (Tue), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host a second
Regional Promotion Seminar (Kansai Bloc) for local governments
to advertise the policies and charm of the region to the diplomatic corps
in Tokyo.
- In the seminar, the prefectural governments of Fukui, Osaka, Hyogo,
and Nara and the municipal governments of Osaka, Sakai, and Kobe will give
a presentation on its regional policy and charm. It is expected that
through this open exchange between the local governments and the diplomatic
corps, understanding of Japan’s provincial areas will be promoted and a
network between the local governments and the diplomatic corps created.
- In this fiscal year, the first seminar of this kind was held for the
Kyushu Bloc last November, and the third seminar is scheduled to be held
for the Kanto Bloc on February 26 (Thu). Seminars are under consideration
for other blocks for subsequent fiscal years.
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been providing various kinds of cooperation to support the various international efforts being made by the local governments and this seminar is being held as part of such cooperation.
