Regional Promotion Seminar (Kyushu Bloc)

- On November 21 (Fri), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host a first
Regional Promotion Seminar (Kyushu Bloc) for local governments to advertise
the policies and charm of the region to the diplomatic corps in Tokyo.
- In the seminar, each prefectural governments of Fukuoka, Saga and Kagoshima
Prefectures and the municipal government of Kitakyushu will give a presentation
on its regional policy and charm. It is expected that through this
frank exchange between the local governments and the diplomatic corps, the
understanding of Japan’s provincial areas will be promoted and a network
between the local governments and the diplomatic corps created.
- After the Kyushu Bloc, seminars are scheduled to be held for the Kinki
Bloc (January 20,2009) and the Kanto Bloc (February 26, 2009) in this fiscal
year. As for other blocs, seminars are under consideration next for fiscal
year and after.
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been providing various kinds of cooperation to support a variety of international efforts by the local governments, and this seminar will be held as part of such cooperation.
