The 4th Meeting of Japan-EU Dialogue on Intellectual Property Rights

  1. The 4th meeting of Japan-EU Dialogue on Intellectual Property Rights will be held on 28 February 2007 at the Headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels (Belgium).
  2. The meeting will be co-chaired by Mr. Yasuo Tanabe, Deputy Director-General, Economic Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) who leads the Japanese delegation consisted of officials from ministries/agencies concerned, and by Dr. Ewa Synowiec, Director, Directorate General Trade of the European Commission (EC) who leads the EU delegation consisted of officials of the related departments of the Commission.
  3. The meeting will discuss broad areas of topics related to intellectual property rights (IPR), including counterfeiting and piracy, patent and copyrights, with a view to seeking the future co-operation between Japan and the EU in the fields of IPR.
  4. Japan-EU Dialogue on Intellectual Property Rights has been annually held since its first meeting in FY 2003. This will mark the 4th dialogue since then. The previous meeting was held in Tokyo (MOFA) in February 2006.
