The First Meeting of the Commissioners General of Section of the 2005 World Exposition, Aichi, Japan (EXPO 2005 AICHI)

  1. The First Meeting of the Commissioners General of Section of the 2005 World Exposition, Aichi, Japan ("EXPO 2005 AICHI"), hosted by Ambassador Taizo Watanabe, Commissioner General of the EXPO, will be held in Nagoya on November 18 (Tue) and 19 (Wed).

  2. The meeting will be attended by Mr. Vicente Gonzalez Loscertales, Secretary General of the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE), the Commissioners General of Section, from the 87 countries and 5 international organizations among 120 countries (including Japan) and 8 international organizations which have announced official participation in the EXPO 2005 AICHI. From Japanese side, government officials from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and also representatives of Japan Association for the 2005 World Exposition, the organizer of the EXPO, will be present.

  3. In this meeting, Japanese representative, as the host country will explain general outline of the EXPO 2005 AICHI, such as progress report, basic plan, principles concerning to administration, and general regulations and guidelines. A Steering Committee representing the Commissioners General of Section in charge of the management of the EXPO is expected to be formed during this meeting. The tour to EXPO 2005 site, which is presently under construction, will be also programmed for the participants.

  4. "The EXPO 2005 AICHI, JAPAN", with the theme of "Nature's Wisdom", will be held in Aichi prefecture from March 25 to September 25, 2005 (185 days). The advance tickets are now on sale since September this year.
