Ms. Yoriko Kawaguchi, Minister for Foreign Affairs, to Attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting

  1. Ms. Yoriko Kawaguchi, Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit Bangkok, Thailand, from October 16 (Thu) to 18 (Sat) to attend the 15th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting.

  2. At the Meeting, Ms. Kawaguchi will exchange views with the ministers of APEC member countries centering on the following issues: Strengthening the Open Multilateral Trading System (World Trade Organization (WTO), Free Trade Agreement (FTA)); Trade and Investment Liberalization and Facilitation; Counter-terrorism; Economic and Technical Cooperation; and Capacity Building and Acting on Development Pledge.

  3. Ms. Kawaguchi will also exchange views on bilateral relations and other issues with participating ministers.

  4. The Meeting will be attended by the Foreign Ministers and other officials from the following 21 Economies member countries of APEC: Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Japan, R.O.K., Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the U.S.A. and Viet Nam.
