Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress of Japan to Visit Poland and Hungary

His Excellency the President of the Republic of Poland, and His Excellency the President of the Republic of Hungary have extended invitations to Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress of Japan to visit their countries.

In view of the friendly relations existing between Japan and the two countries, the Government of Japan has advised The Emperor and Empress to pay official visits, and Their Majesties have accepted the invitations.

Along with the two countries, Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress will visit the Czech Republic and the Republic of Austria.

The itinerary of the visits will be finalized after consultations with the Governments of those countries. It is expected that Their Majesties will leave Tokyo on July 6, 2002, and will be abroad for about two weeks.
