Ms. Yoriko Kawaguchi, Minister for Foreign Affairs, to Visit Sri Lanka and India

- Ms. Yoriko Kawaguchi, Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit Sri Lanka and India from January 5 (Sun) to 9 (Thu), 2003.
- In Sri Lanka, Foreign Minister Kawaguchi will reaffirm Japan's intention to support the peace process and its continued efforts with various forms of assistance toward the "consolidation of peace". In India, the foreign minister will confirm Japan's efforts for further enforcement of the global partnership based on the Joint Declaration between Japan and India and will also deliver a policy speech.
- This will be the first visit to Sri Lanka by a Japanese foreign minister since August 1987 and to India since July 1997.
