The Visit of Mr. David Levy, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, to Japan

- Mr. David Levy, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, will visit Japan from December 12 to 14 as a guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
- Mr. Levy will meet with Mr. Yohei Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and other leading figures in the Government of Japan during his stay in Japan to exchange views on the current Middle East Peace Process, which stands at a critical juncture exemplified by the signing of Sharm El-Sheikh Memorandum and the resumption of the final status negotiations with the Palestinians as well as the bilateral relations between Japan and Israel.
- This visit by Mr. Levy constitutes the first official visit by an Israeli Cabinet Minister since the establishment of the Barak Government in Israel in July this year, while it is his second official visit to Japan following the first one in February, 1997 as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs under the Netanyahu Government.
